Your gift will help thousands experiencing poverty or homelessness access the basic needs they deserve. 

 

Join us from April 17-23 as we send bright, bold, beautiful toilets all over Wichita to raise critical funds and awareness for the 61,000 people living in poverty, and countless more experiencing homelessness. Send a painted toilet to the front yard of anyone you choose and encourage them to flush it forward. But be careful who you choose because they could send it right back to you. Of course, we could also remove it…for a small donation.

Send a one-of-a-kind*, porcelain work of art to someone’s yard. Just one toilet will fund a week’s stay for one person in our Emergency Winter Shelter.

With your donation of $100 to HumanKind, we will send a colorfully painted toilet, like the one above, to the home of your choice. Don’t worry, we’ve sealed the toilet tops and bottoms to make sure they are for decorative purposes only.

Included with your donation:

  • 1 full-size colorfully painted toilet (colors and designs var. The toilet above is an example of hundreds of designs) delivered to the home of your choice
  • Flush Away Poverty yard sign placed next to the toilet
  • Flush Away Poverty card and information explaining what you’ve done and how to join the fun
  • Services for one person at The Inn, the only low-barrier shelter for individuals, families, and their pets, for 7 days, providing case management and life skills classes for clients to enter permanent housing and develop the skills to be successful

What Is The Difference Between Sending a Toilet and Flushing One Forward?

Flushing a toilet forward means re-gifting a toilet that has been sent to you, to someone else. We will come and pick it up and redeliver it. If you haven't received a toilet of your own, and you would like to send one, we will dispatch one from our warehouse.

Can I Flush a Small Toilet Forward? Or Have it Removed?

We are only able to flush forward and remove large toilets. You are welcome to keep or donate small toilets.

Can I Send Multiple Toilets to the Same Address?

Yes. Just add all your toilets to your cart and enter the delivery address at the checkout.

Can I Send to Multiple Addresses?

Yes. Add all your items to your cart and leave the delivery details blank—we will contact you within 3 business days to confirm delivery addresses.

 

Is There a Charge for Delivery?

No. HumanKind staff and volunteers will deliver all toilets and make all pickups.

 

When Will My Toilet(s) be Delivered?

Deliveries will be made on Monday 4/17, Weds 4/19, and Friday 4/21. Final pick-ups will be on Monday 4/24.

What is Flush Away Poverty?

Flush Away Poverty is a fundraiser for HumanKind Ministries' and a campaign for awareness of the 61,000 people living in poverty in Wichita and countless more experiencing homelessness. It gives Wichitans a unique opportunity to surprise and delight friends, family, and neighbors while raising funds and awareness of the basic needs of Wichita’s most vulnerable residents.

Why a Toilet?

People living in poverty or homelessness often lack easy access to basic needs including food, water, shelter, appropriate clothing, medical care, and sanitation. The toilet is a symbol of these basic needs that so many of us take for granted. 

What Does My Money Support?

All proceeds will support HumanKind's programs and services, which include homeless shelters, low-income apartment complexes, street outreach, and other basic needs programs. Funds will also go toward installing new bathroom facilities at our Men’s Emergency Winter Shelter which now serves up to 140 people every night. Learn more about our work here.
