Operation Holiday 2020

We are excited be accepting applications for Operation Holiday from Monday, Oct. 12 through Friday, Nov. 20. Operation Holiday is the region’s largest holiday assistance program, bringing the community together to provide food, coats, blankets and more to 11-15,000 individuals and families during the holiday season. This year, modifications have been made to help people safely apply for and receive goods. In an effort to keep everyone safe, distribution will take place in a new drive-thru format from Tuesday, Dec. 15 to Saturday, Dec. 19 in the parking lot outside the Operation Holiday warehouse at Towne West. If you or someone you know needs some help this holiday season, you can learn more and apply here.

We will need your support, through donations and volunteering, to provide Wichita families with this critical assistance. Volunteers are needed in November, sorting donations at the Operation Holiday warehouse, through distribution in December. In light of the pandemic, we’ve modified what material donations will be accepted—new children’s coats, new or hand-made children’s winter accessories, new or hand-made blankets and nonperishable foodsMonetary donations, which are most helpful because they allow us to purchase goods more cheaply in bulk, can be made online, by phone at 316-264-9303, or mailed to HumanKind at 829 N. Market, 67214.

“Families are struggling now more than ever, and HumanKind is committed to partnering with the community to meet the increased need this holiday season,” said Bill Williams, President and CEO of HK. “Whether it be through donations, volunteering or hosting a collection drive, everyone can get involved now to support our low-income neighbors.”

You can host a collection drive from Monday, Nov. 2 through Saturday, Dec. 5, and Dillons locations will accept donations from Monday, Nov. 30 through Monday, Dec. 14. Donations will also be accepted during our telethon on KSN on Nov. 30 and Dec. 2, Stuff the Truck event on Dec. 3rd, and Dillon’s Day of Giving on Dec. 5th. You can find more details about these events here.

We could not operate such a large-scale assistance program without dedicated community partners like Presenting Sponsor Accident Recovery Team, Compassion Sponsor Dillons, Fellowship Sponsor Cargill, Gratitude Sponsor Davis-Moore, and Community Sponsor Shelley Electric!

“The Accident Recovery Team values this effort and the incredible amount of good it does in the community. From the donation drive to the telethon and then participating in the distribution of Christmas presents and food for holiday meals, our team really appreciates this opportunity to serve,” said Todd King of Accident Recovery Team, presenting sponsor of Operation Holiday. “In 2020, we know the need is great and we are preparing to meet new challenges with social distancing throughout the process.”
