Our Shelters Are Still Open, and We Need Your Help

For many of us, these uncertain times have left us with a desire to do something to help the many struggling in our communities and around the world. We hope you will consider supporting HumanKind Ministries now, as our services are more vital than ever before.

With a stay-at-home order in effect for all of Sedgwick County, our three shelters are staying open, with extended services and hours so that residents can stay in all day. This requires additional funding and support to provide three meals a day for nearly 150 people (which would normally be donated and served), and extra staff time to cover extended hours and manage countless tasks normally handled by our amazing volunteers (including cleaning which is more important than ever).

We are doing everything we can to stay true to our mission of serving our region’s most vulnerable populations—and we need your help. Though we cannot allow volunteers on our campus, there are many ways you can support HK during this time.

1. Donate online.
Consider joining the Kindness Club by making your gift recurring.

2. Register for Sleep Out/Speak Out.
Participate in our virtual fundraiser by Sleeping Out in your backyard (or a location of your choosing) and raising much-needed funds and awareness to support our homeless neighbors.

3. Drop off in-kind donations.
At this time, we can only accept donations of nonperishable prepackaged food, and cleaning and sanitizing supplies (same drop-off info as above).

4. Shop for HK from home with our Amazon Wishlist.
Purchase cleaning supplies, food and other necessary items for HK and have them shipped directly to HK. NOTE: please feel free to substitute with similar items to those on our list if something is sold out.

Thank you for doing what you can to support those who will count on us in the coming weeks and months. These are trying times, but we continue to be inspired by the humanity and kindness shown in our community and around the world.
